Earthworks Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

Deep blood red in colour. Warm and enticing aromas frame a picture of mocha chocolate, stewed blood plums, cassis and rosemary goodness. The palate is round, soft and generous, the flavours lead with summer berry compote, vanilla and boysenberry. Hints of mocha chocolate compliment the velvet finish. This is a wine with broad shoulders and a straight back, akin to the character of our loyal Barossa growers.

Really nice mellow New World Bordeaux blend -- nice tannin backbone supported by a fruitiness that is not too sweet, nor too fruity. The Cabernet comes out first, followed by a mellow Merlot flavour. Though high in alcohol (13.9%) -- this is well hidden by the blend which makes it excellent and affordable drinking.

Dark and ripe, with crisp tannins around a fleshy core of black cherry and smoky, creamy grace notes. Finishes with welcome intensity. Drink now through 2010.

The 2006 Cabernet was aged for 6 months, 70% in tank and 30% in seasoned French oak. Dark ruby/purple-colored, it has an expressive nose of spice box and black currants. This leads to a medium-bodied, smooth-textured, easy-going wine with abundant sweet fruit, light tannin, and a long, fruit-filled finish. Drink this outstanding value over the next 6 years.

Bright red. Spicy cherry and red berry aromas show a vaguely candied character. Firm and juicy, with vibrant, spice-accented redcurrant and cherry flavors on a silky, medium-bodied frame. Softens on the finish, showing an alluring spicy quality and good persistence. This is still youthfully tangy so give it some air.

Bright ruby-red color. Sharply focused cherry and blackcurrant aromas are deepened by mocha and black tea. Zestier red fruit flavors are a bit wound up initially but gain sweetness and flesh with air, picking up dusty tannins as well. The nervy, brisk finish leaves behind a strong redcurrant quality.
