Eagle Eye Red Blend Napa Valley Voluptuous 2005
Voluptuous is defined by Webster as derived from gratification of the senses, sensuously delightful, full and shapely with indulgences in luxury, pleasure and sensuous enjoyment. This is what Eagle Eye Voluptuous does to your taste buds. Ripe red fruit, soft tannins and fruit forward characterize that Eagle Eye . The Eagle Eye Wine Artist, Roxanne Wolf, captured the flavor of Voluptuous with the painting "Red Hot Dip" for as the dapper couple swirls and twirls to the sensuality of the music, stars twinkle, palm trees sway, wine flows...Life is to be enjoyed!

This was a tasting panel favorite. On the nose, I picked up Coca-cola with Lemon (a local delight you can get at the Iceburg here in Walla Walla), plus cinnamon, smoke and fig. The flavors are predominantly spicy with a touch of nice raspberry flavors and dark chocolate. The finish is surprisingly a mirror reflection of the taste - nice to have a wine stay the same from start to finish! This wine is well-balanced while still being light-bodied, so you can serve this with a variety of foods. My recommendation would be something savory! The spice component with this wine would provide a nice counterpoint to savory meat dish.
The six grape varietals in this wine is what makes it truly unique, giving the wine an impressive arsenal of aromas and flavors that are surprisingly well balanced. I detected aromas of cherry reduction, with some raspberries and just the right amount of oak to smooth out the fruit. The smell was delicious! The taste gave way to some vanilla, cola and slight dark chocolate tones with a long gentle finish. My favorite wine from Eagle Eye Wines so far!

This is a good pick for wine drinkers that want to get the full mouth feel of robust winemaking style, but it's also pleasantly light bodied. It's not overpowering and will compliment food that's hearty - as well as lighter fair. There's some magic to the blend here.
