paired with coffee crusted foie gras. Liquid peach essence with caramel ovetrones, but not cloying at all. reminded me of a hot summer day's dessert, which it was. very young- plenty of life left.

Based solely on the strength of what is unquestionably a great Yquem, many have concluded that 1967 was a superb vintage for Sauternes. The truth is that 1967 was a very good but irregular vintage. As for Yquem, it is close to perfection. Medium amber/golden with a full intensity bouquet of vanillin spice, honey, ripe pineapples, and coconut, this intense, very ripe, unctuous Yquem has layers of sweet, opulent fruit, excellent balance, and a hefty, powerful finish. Almost too big and rich to be served with food, this wine should be drunk alone as a dessert. From the point of view of this wine's evolution, it has hardly budged in the last six years.

From one of the 20th century s celebrated vintages for Yquem this bottle stands up to all the hype--unforgettable for its purity elegance harmony its "total" everything. Powerful yet it seems weightless on the palate almost defying gravity as it tangos around with its vanilla peach and apricot flavors. Seamless nearly endless finish. Easy to understand its reputation as the greatest Yquem of the last 35 years.--Yquem vertical. Drink now through 2018. PM Wine Spectator.
