Dynamite Vineyards Zinfandel Mendocino County 2008
Wine Tasting Notes Bright, spicy cherry, raspberry and red plum fruit shaded with light vanilla and oak notes characterize the aromas of our Zinfandel. The vibrant fruit aromas echo in the flavors and are enhanced in the mouth by a touch of licorice, lively acidity and soft ripe tannins.
The name Dynamite Vineyards is atribute to our beginnings on rocky slopes that are so rugged we had to blast through rock to plant vaneyards.
The bottle we tried was marked $18.49, on sale for $8.99 at our local grocery store, so I had to try it. The cherry/raspberry flavors jump out at once, and mellow a bit as the wine gets a chance to breathe. The bright acidity and crisp peppery notes also mellowed a bit as the wine was exposed to air - very nice fruit flavors and a short to medium finish. Overall we both liked this one and will buy again!
