Durigutti Malbec 2009
We Are Family Durigutti, growers and wine makers. A family with tradition of European culture to the wonderful life of Argentina. Our family has three generations in America and we have challenges ahead professionally in different parts of the world where we will unite our origins, our training and experience to make wines that thrill. Today, we carry these challenges, Hector and Pablo Durigutti, professional winemakers, conviction and passion.
Lovely, lush malbec leaning to dry. Very bold flavors. Drank well alone and paired with various meat and cheeses. Definite pop of palate pleasing black pepper and other spices as well as lively fruits, berries, chocolates and earth flavors. Admittedly, we tend to really enjoy our Malbecs. Quoting from other websites: 89 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar " Dark red. Laid-back, slightly rustic aromas of currant, chocolate, mocha and leather. Supple and suave but not overly concentrated, with good inner-mouth energy to the flavors of blackberry, chocolate and mint. A rather dry, classic malbec with a savory finish displaying fine tannins and a lingering chocolate note." (2/ 2011) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate " The 2009 Malbec displays a fragrant bouquet of Asian spices, lavender, dried herbs, and black cherry. Medium-bodied and with some elegance on the palate, this spicy offering is nicely balanced and surprisingly lengthy. Drink this excellent value over the next 3-4 years. The new releases from Durigutti are all fine values made from fruit purchased in Uco and Agrelo. They are bottled without fining or filtration." (12/ 2011) Wine Spectator " Ripe, with flashy mocha and melted licorice notes up front, backed by crushed plum and raspberry fruit. A crowd-pleasing style. Drink now." (8/ 2011)
