Durieu Cnp Lucile 05 French 2005

External Review by Sam's Wine:

The top cuvee, which is again made from 45% old vine Grenache, 35% Syrah, and the rest Mourvedre, is the inky purple-colored 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Lucille Avril. This is a broad blockbuster of a wine in the vintage, full-bodied, powerful, tannic, backward, and rich, with hints of charcoal, roasted meat smells, dried Provencal herbs, and plenty of blackberry, cassis, and cherry fruit. This is a beauty but need s a good 2-3 years of cellaring and should keep for close to two decades.
