Dunn Cabernet Napa -Full Bottle Cabernet Red U.s.a 1994

Winemaker's Notes:

96 points Robert Parker: The 1994s might be ready to drink within 10-15 years. It is hard to believe these wines spend 30 months in oak casks before bottling as they are incredibly unevolved and backward when released. Look out for the behemoth 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain. This black/purple-colored wine adds a few more nuances (minerals, licorice, and floral scents) to the lavish display of creme de cassis. Full-bodied, with a blockbuster level of extract and density, this is an outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon for readers with patience, good genes for longevity, or the foresight to purchase it for their children. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2030. (Dec 1997)

This floor fruit contributes to the wine's softer approach, even though the wines usually can be laid down for 15+ years. Read less

My 2nd place wine/ Groups 6th place wine A little light on the nose but with wonderful tones of light green herbs, mineral, iron, milk chocolate and sweet, dusty red cherry fruit. In the mouth this was rich,. Elegant and layered with a transparency and precision that set it apart from the other wines offered tonight. It also was the most tannic wine and in more ways than one seemed to be the wine most likely to develop with additional cellaring. The spicy, earthy notes of pipe tobacco and chewy texture added interest to the lovely red cherry fruit in the mouth and left an overall impression of a rugged wine with fine balance. 94pts

My 6th place wine/Groups 5th place wine Lean and leafy on the nose with a touch of sweet cassis fruit and a hint of banana and oak that barely prevented this from being dull and un-interesting. In the mouth this is gentle and elegant with a simple yet pure core of sweet red currant fruit edged with a touch of vanilla. This finishes with a bit of black cherry bitterness that refreshes the palate a touch. 88pts

Inky dark, intense and tannic, packing in a tightly wound core of currant, mineral, plum and earthy flavors. Dense and chewy; needs cellaring. Best after 2000. 2,000 cases made. (JL) Wine Spectator. A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 1994 Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 1500ml

...The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa reveals an opaque purple color, followed by a sweet, rich, black currant and creme de cassis-scented nose with no evidence of oak. This fruit bomb displays considerable breadth and expansiveness on the palate, in e... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
