Wonderful syrah. I think the best I've had. Nice spice. Some tannins but not too overpowering. Tasted some leather. Someone mentioned it tastes like bacon, I can agree with that. I taste a little bit of truffle. We had it sit out for about an hour and used the Venturi Aerator. Made it very smooth.

There are only 300 cases of the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2005 Syrah Jack Robert's Run. Aromas of black fruits, tapenade, ground pepper, and spice box emerge from the 2005 Syrah Russian River (1,400 cases). There is some herbaceousness underneath the fruit, but the wine is full-bodied, rich, complex, and comes across like a Crozes-Hermitage on steroids. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.

There are only 300 cases of the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2005 Syrah Jack Robert s Run. With excellent acidity, loads of tannin, and a more elegant style than the 2004, it is more French/European in its medium-bodied weight, crisp acidity, and lower pH. It should age nicely for 7-8 years.

The 2005 Syrah Eddie s Patch has really turned out beautifully since I tasted it a year ago. Huge color (opaque purple to the rim) with an extraordinary nose of frying bacon, roasted meats, licorice, tapenade, and blackberry, the wine is dense, full-bodied, broodingly backward, with super purity, and stunning length and richness. It is hard to know how this wine will age, but it is certainly a fabulous Syrah that should drink well for at least 5-8 years if not longer.

Inky ruby color. Vibrant dark berry, violet, pepper and smoked meat aromas. Sweet, sappy and pliant, with a suave, creamy texture and deep blackberry and blackcurrant flavors complicated by floral pastille and black pepper. This could only be syrah. ... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. Winemaker's Notes:

A real mouthful of Syrah. Ripe, rich and plush, with dense layers of pepper, wild berry, sage and mineral flavors that are powerful, yet unfold gracefully on the palate. Rich, ripe tannins hold on the finish. Drink now through 2013. 192 cases made.
