A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2006 Dumol Chardonnay Isobel Green Valley 750ml
For a 2006 Pinot Noir, the 2006 Pinot Noir Finn has turned out about as well as one could hope. It didn't hit the heights I predicted from barrel, but the wine has a dark plum/ruby color and a sweet nose of pomegranate, root beer, underbrush/forest floor, black tea, and sweet plums and cherries. This is a beauty - deep, full-bodied, and an undeniable success for the vintage. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
Even better is the 2006 Chardonnay Isobel, which comes from the Heintz Vineyard in Green Valley, a vineyard that has also produced some superb Chardonnays at nearby Williams-Selyem. Very exotic notes of tropical fruits, pineapple, and mango, in addition to honeysuckle, make for a vivid aromatic expression. This full-bodied wine displays excellent fruit purity, nicely layered mouthfeel, and a long finish. It is a wine to drink over the next 3-4 years.
The 2006 Pinot Noir Russian River is a sensual wine showing floral notes intermixed with sassafras, meat, and black cherry and strawberry fruit. It is medium ruby in color, ripe, and best drunk over the next 5-7 years.
Wine Tasting NotesDeep ruby red. Great aromatic complexity with truffles, fresh earth, thyme and kirsch. Bright red fruit and darker wild berry flavors lead to roasted meat and anise notes. Great inner-mouth energy and vibrancy with supple, elegant tannins and a touch of orange peel on the long spicy back end. Approachable on release, our RRV Pinot bottling should provide great drinking pleasure for up to eight years with good cellaring. Serve between 58 and 62 degrees to ensure full flavor development.
