Dumol Pinot Noir Green Valley Ryan 2007

From the Widdoes and Avid vineyards, the 2007 Pinot Noir Ryan is made from the Martini clone as well as several Dijon clones. It reveals foresty/autumnal characteristics intermixed with notes of raspberries, black cherries, cola, and spice box. Full-bodied and rich, along with the Finn, it is the biggest, most concentrated of these Pinots. It should be drinkable in 2-3 years, and will last for 15+.

My highest score goes to the 2007 Pinot Noir Finn, which comes from the Occidental, Widdoes, and Sonoma State vineyards. A brilliant, juicy, succulent effort, it boasts a terrific full-bodied texture, layers of black cherry, raspberry, and cola aromas and flavors, a dark ruby/purple color, and a backward yet irresistible style. This big, rich Pinot Noir is capable of lasting 15-20 years.

The dense 2007 Pinot Noir Aidan (400 cases produced) comes from the Wild Rose Vineyard, which is planted with Dijon clones 115 and 777. It reveals a dark ruby/purple color, good acidity, a tight but promising bouquet of sassafras, sweet black cherry, raspberry, and plum fruit, earthy undertones, and subtle wood smoke. It possesses significant structure as well as aging potential. Give it 2-3 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following two decades.

Good deep red. Very ripe aromas of raspberry, strawberry and chocolatey oak. Sweet, sappy and flavorful, with lovely pinot tang. Fairly intense flavors of red berries, mocha, sassafras and spices. Finishes ripely tannic and persistent.

Offers a rich, concentrated core of spicy berry, black cherry and plum. Full-bodied, this is a touch raw and tannic midpalate, but still where you'd want a wine this age to be.
