Dumol Eoin Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

"The brilliant 2012 Pinot Noir Eoin (440 cases) comes from 12-year-old Calera and Joseph Swan selections, and includes 33% whole stems. It tastes like a grand cru from Burgundy’s Morey-St.-Denis appellation. Copious notes of forest floor, earth, plums, Asian soy, raspberries, strawberries and black cherries jump from the glass of this full-bodied, rich, concentrated, stunning Pinot Noir. A smokey herbaceousness adds to the complexity of this 2012. It should drink well for another 7-12 years...94" WA 12/14

Deep ruby. Pungent heady aromas of blackberry cola incense and potpourri. Deeply pitched but lively with notes of allspice and star anise building with air. This taut focused pinot offers dark berry and licorice flavors and a strong suggestion of spicecake. Shows impressive energy on the long floral-accented finish. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

A supple graceful detailed wine exhibiting ripe plum and black cherry notes joined by a hint of raspberry spice and cedar. Medium-bodied and most interesting on the finish revealing subtle nuances. Drink now through 2018. -JL Wine Spectator.

The 2009 Pinot Noir Eoin Stage Vineyard is gorgeous. Black cherries tobacco leather licorice and violets are some of the notes that flow from this taut Pinot. There is an energy and sheer vibrancy to the Eoin that is immensely appealing. The balance of fruit and structure is compelling. This is a fabulous showing. The clones at Stage are Calera and Swan. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
