Dumol Chardonnay Russian River Valley 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Pale lemon yellow. Penetrating aromas of ripe citrus, honey and flint with a subtle edge of hazelnut. Immediate intensity of wet-stone minerality and citrus oil leads to great natural extract and palate richness. Maintains purity of fruit and finesse to the slow-building finish, which features perfectly integrated yet taut acidity and persistent length. Delicious on release, the wine will continue to gain honeyed richness with 4 or 5 years aging in a cool cellar.

Excellent wine that shows constraint with oak. Nicely balanced, with green color. Loads of butter, citrus, and lemon as well as minerality. Very good wine. 94pts

Had this last night. Very impressed, drinking nicely now. Golden color, shedding oak and good balance with rich flavor.

The 2006 Chardonnay Chloe, from the Ritchie Vineyard, has also taken on a little more of an earthy note, with hints of marmalade, peach, and nectarine, full body, and terrific fruit. This is a successful, serious Chardonnay that is probably best drunk in its first 2-3 years of life.

The 2006 Chardonnay Clare, which comes entirely from the Hyde Vineyard in Carneros, might be the most flamboyant of the three Chardonnays. Honeyed lemons, orange blossoms, a hint of pineapple and quince in addition to some crushed rock are all present in this full-bodied, deeply concentrated Chardonnay, which is even more impressive considering the vintage irregularities for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This is a stunner that should drink nicely for 4-5 years.

The 2006 Chardonnays follow suit, with the 2006 Chardonnay Russian River beautifully floral, with plenty of honeysuckle, citrus oil, mineral, and hazelnut. It is ripe, fleshy, and altogether a delicious example of this varietal that should drink nicely for 4-5 years.

The 2006 Chardonnay Chloe (100% Ritchie Vineyard) provides wonderful purity, with notes of nectarine, citrus oil, orange blossom and some crushed rocks in a full-bodied, powerful, rich style.
