Dense and dark smelling, cocoa, oaky, minty, very thin mints – soft entry, velvety, a bit opaque but the core of wild berry fruit does pop on the mid-palate, ripe tannins, seductive feel, good fruit drives through on the moderately long finish (91-92)

63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet franc. Dark red color pushes all the way out to the tim. Sweet cherry on the nose with a touch of mocha chocolate and espresso. Very expressive nose. Beautiful texture and the finish is... Alex Lallos. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2007 Branaire-Ducru 750ml

An outstanding effort... Attractive, elegant, and medium to full-bodied with beautiful fruit, density, and texture.

Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: Ch. Branaire Ducru - Master of St. Julien. The wine of choice for the Bordeaux
cognoscenti, Patrick Maroteau's stunning wine is close to the quality of the
First Growths in 2007. With the same (albeit much riper) tannins as the 1996,
Patrick ranks this as the 5th or 6th best Branaire of the last 15 years. The
rich, fresh, almost porty nose of spicy damsons and blackberries simply oozes
class while the precise, creamy cassis palate is as sleek and balanced as
anything we have tasted. Fine grained tannins add structure while a long, pure
black fruit, coffee and bitter chocolate finish is the icing on the cake.
