The greatest Ducru produced this century. Breathtaking aromas of berries, violets, vanilla and blackberries set the stage for a wine that's full-bodied and tannic, yet very fine and long in the mouth... Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 1995 Ducru Beaucaillou 1500ml
The greatest Ducru produced this century. Breathtaking aromas of berries violets vanilla and blackberries set the stage for a wine that s full-bodied and tannic yet very fine and long in the mouth... Wine Spectator.
...a knock-out nose of blueberry and black raspberry/cassis fruit intertwined with minerals flowers and subtle toasty new oak. Like its younger sibling the wine possesses a sweet rich mid-palate (from extract and ripeness not sugar) layers of flavor good delineation and grip but generally unobtrusive tannin and acidity. It is a classic compelling example of Ducru-Beaucaillou that should not be missed... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
...Knockout perfumed nose of great purity: cassis violet minerals and bitter chocolate. A penetrating wine of outstanding vinosity and verve; offers great tensile strength. Youthfully tight classic claret whose extremely long finish features very fine tannins... Stephen Tanzers IWC.
Dark ruby-red. Black- and redcurrants and smoke on the nose; less oak-spicy today than the '96. Silky and harmonious but currently rather withdrawn. Not quite as sweet as the '96. Here the substantial toothcoating tannins come across as somewhat toug... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 1995 Pontet-Canet 750ml
This chateau has performed to a consistently high standard beginning in the 1990's. Its holdings of nearly 200 acres are adjacent to 1st Growth Mouton-Rothschild and are planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot averaging 35 years of age. Picking is by hand, followed by sorting, and fermentation takes place in a variety of vats. The chateau utilizes about 60% new oak. The 1995 delivers the profile expected of a top, long-lived Pauillac, exhibiting a concentrated core of black fruits along with a rich center held in by a firm backbone of tannin. Still quite youthful and structured, this wine will require cellaring of at least another decade to soften and open - and then will no doubt reward keeping for many more years if you can be patient! Robert Parker 92, Wine Spectator 94.
