Add your reviewThis is a really interesting wine. I was caught a littl off gaurd by how restrained and refined this bottle was. This is a medium body wine with plenty of red fruits but it is not an overextracted as some zin can be. There are notes of pepper and spice as well as some tobaco.
Richly textured nose of baking spices and brambly fruit notes. Some herbal tones, like sage and thyme. Well structured and balanced, this is a nice drinking zin maintaining a good profile of spice and jammy red and black fruit without going too far in any one direction. Nice oak. Baking spices linger and it turns a tad pruny on the finish.

Rating: 88/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the September 2010 issue. Nicely stated themes of ripe blackberries are met in the nose by touches of briar and milk chocolate and continue on into the wine's like-minded flavors. Medium-full-bodied and nicely balanced on the palate, this one flirts with a scant bit of finishing heat but in the end wins the nod for its continuity and fine varietal focus.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.
For the first time Duckhorn vineyards bottled a varietally labeled Zinfandel and it's a real winner. Since they have access to such prime vineyards and top quality fruit, I guess it's no surprise. This zesty Zin scored 92 points in Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "This wonderful wine showcases the blender’s art. The grapes come from 11 appellations throughout the valley, and the wine, while notable for its delicious flavors, also is great in structure. It has soft tannins and refreshing acidity, and is entirely dry, with moderate alcohol. Those flavors include raspberry jam, cherry-vanilla cream, cinnamon and white pepper. So easy to like."
