Duckhorn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena Estate Grown Rector Creek Vineyard 2004
This unique vineyard has produced an age-worthy wine with dense, mouthfilling tannins, rich texture, and a long, balanced finish. The aromatics are intense, highlighted elements of black currant, plum, raspberry, cola, and cedar. These powerful aromas segue to rich flavors of blueberry pie, cassis, black cherry and toffee, alongside nuanced notes of cinnamon, clove, and vanilla.
Co-founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards has spent a quarter century establishing itself as one of North America's premier producers of Bordeaux varietal wines. From its modest inaugural vintage of 800 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon and 800 cases of Merlot in 1978, to its addition of Sauvignon Blanc in 1982, Duckhorn Vineyards has crafted a tradition of quality and excellence that continues today.

Nice ruby color. Bright clear red fruit nose with a slight autolytic quality. Fruit forward flavors of cherry and raspberry.
Sweet fruits and cocoa on the nose. Some funk (which proved to be that the wine was oxidized slightly). Well balanced, fairly smooth, notes of cola (inspired by reading the official release notes), vanilla and plums. Had with Silver Mountain Cheddar. It was an off bottle, so i've withheld from scoring it.
86% Cabernet, 9% Merlot 5% Cabernet Franc - 20 months 100% new French oak barrels. 300 cases produced.
