Really beautiful top note of pale cigar wrapper, a coy nose, lots of lurking fruit, red raspberry, mocha, hazelnut nougat, smoke, oak, spice and a touch of herb. Big and layered with some airy space between the shell and core of this wine. Quite youthful, a nice silky feel to the tannins, the fruit is prominent but nicely ripe and with deep red currant and dried strawberry tones. A bit of wood tannin rasps across the midpalate a bit and the alcohol it a touch high but the slightly creamy, oak tinged fruit remains fresh. The finish is a bit of a let down as there’s not much length or development and the oaky turns a bit raw. In a year or two this should be at a better place but this still is a nicely proportioned Napa Meritage. 91pts

Party wine. This is not complicated stuff, just a well put together blend. A real crowd pleaser. It's a bit expensive, but this is definitely a step above many red blends.

Nose of pine resin, moss and forest floor. Smooth in the mouth with soft tannins at first, which build over time. Intense fruit, with black cherry, blackberry and date flavors. Finishes on firmer tannins with licorice and anise notes.

Very dry and witty, it bristles with confidence and leaves your tongue lashing for more. The tannins are strong and there is much complexity on the palate, with honey, floral, and herbal notes.

This is curently a little out of balance. Very tanic / astringent. Should improve with some time. Tasted at Geneva wine tasting 4/18/2010.

A tremendous Merlot, Duckhorn's greatest since the 2005 and one of their best ever, over many years of crafting this wine. Feels soft and smooth and yet dusty and tannic all at once, while the flavors, of red and black cherries, blackberries, licoric... Wine Enthusiast. A Merlot wine from California in USA. 2007 Duckhorn Merlot Three Palms Vineyard 750ml

Ruby-red. Cassis, chocolate, licorice and minerals on the nose; very Napa Valley.Rich, round and oaky, with supple flavors of currant, dark chocolate and spices. Finishes with fairly sweet, fine tannins and a lingering note of medicinal black cherry.

There's a beautiful Merlot in here but you're going to have to paddle against the powerful tannins to find it. It brings to mind the old Duckhorn Three Palms Merlots, which were similarly tough and tannic in youth, but aged well. This wine is ripe in chocolate, blackberry, cassis, coconut macaroon and plum sauce flavors, but needs four or five years to begin to come around.

For such a large production wine, this Merlot has a lot going for it. It's full-bodied and rich in black currant, cherry, chocolate, violet, licorice and smoky oak flavors, with dense, intricate tannins. Probably best now through 2009, before it drops its fresh fruit.

Good deep red-ruby. Dark berries, sweet oak and a minty nuance on the nose. Suave and fine-grained, with slightly edgy but essentially supple flavors of redcurrant, mocha, graphite and oak. Finishes with substantial fine, dusty tannins and good length.

Elegant and rather juicy, with currant and cola aromas and modest cherry and cedar-herb flavors. Drink now through 2012. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Good dark red. Currant, plum, mocha and chocolatey oak on the nose, with hints of menthol and exotic. Supple currant and menthol flavors offer a nice sugar/acid balance but also betray a slightly roasted character. A moderately dense merlot that finishes a tad green.

Winemaker's Notes:

Paraduxx is a bold and expressive Napa Valley Red Wine. Fusing the robust flavors of Californias native Zinfandel with the grandeur of Cabernet Sauvignon, Paraduxx embraces the best of both core varietals. This benchmark blend has developed its own compelling personality filled with enticing layers of lush fruit and engaging aromatics, allowing it to mix naturally with great food and dynamic company.

Tasting Notes:

The product of a near-perfect growing season, this is one of the most complex and mouthfilling renditions of our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to date. Blended to showcase the rich diversity of great Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, it brings together grapes from some of the valley’s most acclaimed winegrowing appellations and includes a mix of mountain and valley floor fruit. Aromas of ripe currant, spearmint, marzipan and tobacco lead to intense flavors of blackberry and black cherry, all supported by a subtle framework of French oak, which adds nuance, depth and dimension to the finish.
