Very few vineyards do Merlot as good as Duckhorn. Another fantastic year here! Soft and supple with wonderful structure. It comes alive in the glass after a short period of time. Very rounded with wonderful dark fruit accents on the mid and back end! Sideways has no clue...Drink a Duckhorn Merlot, and then we can talk! LOL! Cheers!

A lovely Merlot, this is pure, vibrant and elegant. It has classic cherry, red-currant and cedar flavors, and while there’s a sweetness at the core, the finish is thoroughly dry. Wonderful to drink now with steak or lamb.

Sleek and well-focused, offering appealing red currant and tomato leaf aromas, with complex cherry, cedar and espresso notes. Tannins slide in on the finish. Best from 2015 through 2018.

A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2009 Decoy (Duckhorn) Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Not just an entrepreneur but a true visionary, Dan Duckhorn was the first Napa winemaker to see the potential for Merlot as not just something to blend with Cabernet but as the primary grape in a great Napa Valley wine. He founded his winery on that premise and the rest is history. No other Merlot from California has achieved the success, the accolades or the following that Duckhorn enjoys. The wines are always highly allocated and snapped up by legions of loving admirers.

Winemaker's Notes:

This wine displays all of the benefits of slow, even ripening during a mild growing season. Though there is fullness and a lush character to this Merlot, there is also restraint and elegance. Promising aromas of cherry, red plum, raspberry, and dried herbs lead to a clean fresh entry with impeccably balanced acidity supporting intense red fruit flavors of cranberry, plum and raspberry. Round, supple tannins provide an enticing framework for the flavors and contribute to a lingering finish.
