What to Expect

Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. Packed with deep, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure. Its velvety texture makes Merlot instantly appealing and an obvious alternative to similar, more tannic Bordeaux varieties.

The ripe fruits of summer: strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, plum and black cherry are captured in the aroma and flavors of this wine. Layers of complexity are added with notes of vanilla, toasted oak, coffee, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. This wine is well-balanced, with soft tannins and rich fruit that make it approachable now; but it will continue to develop for several years.

Very very nice. After drinking the 1999, I ran out to buy this the day after. Still a little young, but very nice rich fruity merlot. A touch of cab for structure. Very powerful, rich, long with a nice finish. A real fan.

Complex and varied nose and palate. I taste spice and mellow red fruit, raspberries and cherries. A bright and refreshing wine with presentable oak, medium acidity and body. Smooth tannins.

A very fruity nose, this really is a fruit forward wine. Spice, nutmeg and cherry notes - classic merlot spice really. Still a bit tart on the finish (as i noted 6 months ago in my other review) so can age a bit more. Nice finish on cola flavors.
