Duck Pond Syrah Usa Washington Columbia Valley Wahluke Slope Columbia Valley Syrah S 2009

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Dark with prune, tobacco and brown sugar on the nose, along with baking spices, wild black cherry fruit, a touch of a medicinal aspect and nice cracked pepper aromas. Very interesting in the mouth: at once rather thick and a bit unctuous but still managing to seem decidedly cool at the same time. The tannins are thoroughly ripe while the acid is fairly bright if held well within the fruit. Less overtly exuberant in the mouth than the nose, this shows a dark, earthy, slightly sweet quality with prune fruit and a nice dried meat and maple tone on the back end. A long, monotone finish of toasty steeped tea notes. 86pts

Great everyday Syrah, goes well with burgers and especially sausage and green pepper pizza! Yum!
