User Reviews for Duck Pond Syrah Columbia Valley

Winemaker's Notes:

Duck Pond Cellars is a family winery which owns and operates 340 acres of vineyards in northern Oregon (for Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris) and 520 in eastern Washington (for Chardonnay and Merlot). They are a remarkable success story having grown in one generation from farmers into the biggest winery in Oregon. The sunny slopes of eastern Washington seem to be an ideal growing location for Syrah. The soil is shallow and rocky; the growing season is arid and intense. Richness and warmth emanate from this powerfully made Syrah. The plump, sweet berries create a dark, rich wine, exhibiting varietal characteristics of jammy fruit and spice complemented by subtle oak overtones imbued through winemaking. It is big and bold from its inky colour to its solid structure of tannin with ripe blackberry fruit and spice. This wine suits strong- flavoured meats, spicy pizzas and rich, herbed pasta sauces.
