Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

I bought this bottle of wine in an auction [www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/55358] and as I was the only bidder I got it for only one pound. I was pleased as the bottle had obviously been cellared properly with the fill well into the neck. The Cotes de Duras is an AOC established in 1937 [ although wine production in the area goes back many centuries ] for white, red and rose wines produced around the village of that name about 30 miles east of Bordeaux and 20 miles south-west of Bergerac. The grape varieties used are the same as those in the Bordeaux AOC's and the wines tend to be very similar. Berticot is a co-operative making several cuvees of red, white and rose wines representing 120 growers and over half of the appellation's total production. Berticot has a very good reputation as a wine producer winning a gold medal in the prestigious Concours Regional des Vins Aquitaine in 2001. This particular cuvee is a 50/50 blend of merlot and cabernet sauvignon and is aged in oak barrels.I started my bottle last night with my supper of meat pie and I enjoyed it. It was soft. mellow and easy drinking and there was plenty of fruit [blackberries, blackcurrant and plums] there as well. I thought it a quality wine and a pound well spent
