What to Expect

The Gamay grape finds it's home in France's Burgundy region where it is responsible for the red wines of Beaujolais. Producing light to medium bodied wines with modest tannins and good acidity, Gamay is unfairly associated with Beaujolais Nouveau. It is capable of producing wonderful, cherry and raspberry flavored wines with earthy hints of violets and spice.

From a beautiful cherry color, this cuvee opens on intense aromas of red fruits and Roses. On the palate, this fleshy wine displays soft tannins and fruity flavors. Well structured and balanced this Moulin à Vent has character and is ready to be enjoyed now or could be kept in the cellar for several years. A concentrated behemoth, the red cherry, oak, and blackberry-scented 2005 Moulin-a-Vent Carquelin is medium to full-bodied, suave, and silky-textured.
