What to Expect

The Gamay grape finds it's home in France's Burgundy region where it is responsible for the red wines of Beaujolais. Producing light to medium bodied wines with modest tannins and good acidity, Gamay is unfairly associated with Beaujolais Nouveau. It is capable of producing wonderful, cherry and raspberry flavored wines with earthy hints of violets and spice.

The particular taste of the Morgon wines is due to the broken up schists in the soil. With its special flavors, the Morgon deserved its own specific expression and thus the term il morgonne. A full-bodied and virile wine dominated by touches of cherry and kirsch and at times apricot. It is well-suited for ageing.
