Drylands Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Winemaker's notes: Light yellow in color with greenish hues. Brilliant clarity. A bouquet of citrus zest gooseberry and passion fruit. Drylands Sauvignon Blanc displays rich ripe flavors of ruby grapefruit and passion fruit with herbal overtones. The palate has superb weight and complexity lingering in a crisp refreshing finish.
Perhaps the most exciting NZ SB I've tasted this year this wine snaps, crackles, and pops with life. The aromas absolutely bowl you over--citrus, gooseberry, flowers. The intriguing floral note in the wine's aromas carries through in the palate, which is resoundingly tart and fresh, tingling over your tongue. A deeper, blood orange note creeps into the finish. Exceptionally good, so refreshing, and restores lagging faith in NZ SB. Excellent QPR--worth the $17.50.
The color is identical to 2007, pale yellow with just a touch of green. On the nose there is that familiar scent of green apple along with honey and clover and just a touch of wood. On the palate there is that green apple and passion fruit and the honey and oak remain. Like I mentioned before, there is just less of it. If I hadn’t been tasting these two wines side by side, I may not have even noticed it. There is still a bright acidity associated with this wine.

Bright and concentrated, showing vibrant, focused green berry and herbal aromas and flavors, which echo with a touch of lime on the finish. Drink now.
Aggressively pungent and herbal without being over the top, this is Sauvignon Blanc that screams of its origins. Grapefruit and passion fruit flavors wash easily across the palate, leaving plenty of grassy herbaceousness in their wake, and a crisp, lingering finish. Drink now." 91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Pale, bright color. Pungent aromas of lemon, quince and green pepper. Juicy and fairly supple but with a distinct tart edge to the flavors of lemon, green apple, quince and pepper. Possesses just enough flesh to avoid coming off as severe. (Another bottle, though, was leaner and a bit greener.)
Focused and very intense, with a lively array of grass, lime, grapefruit and stone flavors. Citrus acidity hones the finish. Drink now.
Exuberantly fragrant, bursting with luscious gooseberry, passion fruit, grass and grapefruit flavors. Concentrated, almost oily, with lingering citrus tanginess and mineral nuances. Drink now.
Bracingly tart, with a vibrant core of pineapple, passion fruit and guava flavors that linger nicely on the beautifully pointed finish. Drink now.
