A nice, multi-faceted, and interesting wine. A good wine, I think, for relative newbies looking to move on to higher levels. It will cause one to think about what you're tasting, and stretch your powers of description a bit. An odd but pleasant juxtaposition of sensations. The flavor, such as the way residual sugars work along with the fruit, and the relatively modest 13.5% alc. content, I would call almost lamb-skin "gentle." Other aspects, such as some healthy acids and more of a tannic presence than other zins I've tried, (plus some pepperiness, and a little heat in the stomach), work in the opposite direction, and provide a counterpoint. The pepperiness sometimes persists through the the finish, and sometimes not, so there is a nice variation while drinking. Having personally hovered in the high-teens and under $-range up till now, this wine has been an undeniable step up: a whole new level of quality, and one can tell that a lot of thought, effort and care went into making it. That said, the fruit might be a little overly gentle for some zin seekers, and the components of the wine seem a little "unintegrated," like they exist a little bit separate from one another, but interact in an interesting way
