Spicy plum aromas greet the nose with hints of chocolate, forest floor and floral in the background. Cherry, blackberry, plum and prune start the lively medley of flavors on the palate, with notes of wild herbs and berries, along with chocolate and pepper intertwined with a pleasant acidity and strong tannin support. A great value wine, this Zin dries and cleans the palate even as the bright, treble tastes exit, leaving a longing for more to replenish the ephemeral but delightful closing.

Zesty and easy to drink, with spicy cherry aromas and lively flavors of wild berry, fresh pepper and sage. Drink now through 2012. 13,877 cases made. -TF Powerful in Zinny character, this blend of Dry Creek and Russian River grapes bursts with brawny flavors of wild berries, chocolate-covered mint, tobacco and pepper, wrapped into sturdy tannins. Shows real class and character. - S.H.

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes The Heritage Zinfandel begins with a deep and inky purple-red color. At first swirl, up front fruit aromas of wild blackberry and plum are evident along with more subtle layers of white pepper and cardamom spice. On the palate, the flavors are rich and concentrated with additional blackberry characters that mingle with chocolate, allspice, and vanilla. The tannins are firm and supple, creating a balanced mouthfeel that seems to linger on and on. This is an elegant, sophisticated, and polished Zinfandel that displays Sonoma County fruit at its very best.
