What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Editorial Reviews

Effusively aromatic with baked earth and fruit tones baked plum, tobacco and smoky oak with a tarry edge. A bit heavy on the nose. Big and rick with a sleek sweetness to the wine. There is a distinct dried fruit tone to the intense cherry/cranberry fruit here and fine pepperiness and briar accentuates the mid-palate. The tannins a fairly substantial but ripe and well balanced. Good length and typicity 89pts

Reviews

Fungal, meaty nose moving to a lot of acidity for a zinfandel. Its fruity, but thats dominated by an earthy, dirty flavor. Surprisingly tart on the finish.

Raspberry jam, spice (cinnamon?) and sweetness in aroma. Good acidity and some spice in the finish.

Immediately got a bacony greasy vibe from this one, but in the good way. Prickly and fun.

Like the city of Pompeii five hundred years after nature had her fit. The terror is no longer palpable, after so much time has passed. When you dig through the ashes, it has so much to teach you about itself, how it used to live and breath, the moments of prayer, the arguments with loved ones, the making and breaking of miniature empires. They did it standing on the ashes of something even more ancient and beyond our grasp, ad infinitum.

Not fantastic, subtle berry fruit ,but not a lot of depth of flavor.
