The 200 acres of estate owned vineyards are the foundation for the winery. Fundamentally, the family understands that great wines begin in the vineyard. This philosophy is an ideal marriage for winemaker Bill Knuttel, as he spends most of his time in the vineyard. Each harvest Bill can be found walking vineyards, row by row, to ensure that the grapes are ripening perfectly. Bill’s meticulous approach to vineyard management allows him to use the highest quality grapes for our wines. After all, a wine can only be as good as the fruit in the vineyard. If the fruit is bad there’s a pretty good chance the wine won’t be very good either. Utilizing careful viticultural practices and maintaining long term relationships with growers all contribute to producing these world-class wines. This Fumé Blanc is crisp, bright, and refreshing: three words that have captured the style of the Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc since 1972. Classic aromas of lemon-lime, melon, and subtle mineral notes lead to flavors of grapefruit and lemon zest with grassy nuances. Produced from the Russian River and Dry Creek Valley vineyards, this wine displays both cooler climate and warmer climate fruit elements that give the Fumé Blanc a sense of brightness and minerality. A balanced and delicious wine perfect as an aperitif or first course - it is the quintessential summertime sipper.
Crisp and totally dry, with flavors of strawberry and a good acid balance, it’s the perfect wine to accompany a picnic lunch, appetizers by the pool, or with your favorite BBQ.
