Editorial Reviews for Dry Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County
A nice blend of smoke, pickle barrel, vanilla and sweet fruit with a bit of background cocoa, dirt and herbs. A bit simple with sweet wood and dark cherry fruit on the palate, good acids and well measured tannins. Turns a bit blocky and stiff on the backend with a lovely hint of bitter cocoa that cut through the sweetness and leads to a moderatly long finish with a bit of spicy and mineral. Really fine bottle of wine at this price. 87pts
Oaky at first then turning really meaty and smoky with tobacco and tea notes to the dark, brooding fruit. This reveals both sweet ripe fruit and dried fruit notes with a deep mulberry jam tone. Gains a new nuance with each sniff revealing herbs, roast meats, baking spices, dates, cured meats, and a strong black tea top note. A bit matte up front, tight yet not chewy, really elegant and fresh with a suppleness to the wine that belies its power. Fresh and rich with ripe cabernet notes a bit beefy and very black cherry fruited. Nice finish that is really fruit driven yet with emerging complexity and subtle spice tone. This feels very natural yet is big and explosive in the mouth. There’s a lot to this wine. It can compete with wines selling for twice the price! 2011-2025 94pts.

Add your reviewThrew some filet mignon on the grill and paired it with this beast. This wine goes really well with medium-well and up. the crispy outside of the steak balances out the tannins. Definitely decant this for an hour or so before dinner. you won't regret it!
Incredible value! Subtle raspberry smoothie overtones with some nice smooth dusty tannins. nice 15 second finish.
well done but a tad on the expensive side for what it is. should be $15.
A nice freshness on the nose with a hint of spice leads to a smooth creamy wine -- oak and blackberries, sour cherry, a bit of medicine, some cola, black pepper and a drying, medicinal, resinous coffee finish.
This wine won a gold medal at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair in September 2008 and the Reserve Championship at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Competition announced November 2008. There's not much available and what's left will go fast. It's great.

The 2008 Dry Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon displays elegant aromas of raspberry, sage and dried flowers. On the palate, the flavors intermingle with black cherry and chocolate creating a mouthful of silky, well-integrated tannins. With some airing, the wine fleshes out even more providing dimension, depth and length. The finish lingers on for more than a minute with fine tannins that are very elegant and structured. The 2007 Dry Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is classic Dry Creek Valley Cabernet. At first swirl, deep aromas of raspberry, sage and dried floral elements come forward. Rating: 86/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. We like this wine's insistent black-cherry fruit, and we like its impressions of both vitality and fine depth, but it wanders a little too far to acidy stiffness as it crosses the palate and ends with a faint, close-to-subliminal sourness that winds up costing it higher ranking.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.

Lots of rich, extracted blackberry, cherry and currant flavors in this wine, with nuances of sweet, smoky oak and considerable spices, especially toward the finish. The distinguishing feature is the tannins. They're dry and pretty astringent, although a well-marbled steak will rise to the challenge. - S.H.
