Dry Creek Fume Blanc 2013 is a blend of 91% Sauvignon Blanc, 9% Sauvignon Musque. This California white offers vibrant aromas of melon, mango and citrus on the nose. On the palate, fresh flavors of lemon-lime, kiwi, grapefruit and hints of tropical fruit with full body and a refreshing finish.

Intense aromas of lemon-lime, ruby grapefruit and fresh cut grass. After a couple of minutes in the glass, more subtle hints of kiwi and guava begin to reveal a complex wine. On the palate, this wine is truly delicious with excellent viscosity and length showing more fresh fruit flavors and very balanced acidity.
WINEMAKER COMMENTS:The 2013 Fumé Blanc offers a distinct aromatic and flavor profile that sets it apart from the competition. In the glass, Meyer lemon, kefir lime, fresh citrus and grassy characters are immediately evident. The cold stainless steel fermentation preserves the vibrancy in the wine a characteristic that we love and is often compared to a quivering race horse. The palate repeats vibrant aromatic themes making the wine mouthwatering and delicious. Underlying minerals and wet stone provide a seamless core of acidity and backbone that are hallmarks of our Fumé Blanc. A warm summer day along with a cold bottle of Fumé Blanc and a bucket of fresh oysters can only be described as pure bliss.HISTORY:Since 1972, we have produced Fumé Blanc a wine at the heart and soul of our family winery. Modeled after the classic wines from the Loire Valley in France, our stainless steel fermented, no oak style Fumé Blanc is crisp, balanced and immediately drinkable. Winery founder David Stare was the first vintner to plant Sauvignon Blanc in the Dry Creek Valley, and we are proud to carry his legacy forward in producing this classic, dry white wine.GROWING SEASON:The 2013 harvest will be remembered as a season of near perfect growing conditions.It was also one of our driest seasons on record. By mid-January, it seemed that Mother Nature turned off the rain spigot. Overall, winter was extremely mild. Spring bud break was normal with frost of little or no concern. The summer growing season was outstanding with moderate temperatures. A few heat spikes in late May and early June had us thinking it would be an unusually warm summer. However, July, August and September were beautiful with moderate temperatures. Harvest conditions were excellent.
