With only 5 acres of good soil, Dry Comal Creek Vineyards focuses on growing Black Spanish, which is resistant to Pierce’s disease. While we grow only one grape variety, don’t let that fool you. Dry Comal Creek has developed a series of award-winning specialty wines including French Colombard (Demi-Sweet and Bone Dry), Orange Muscat, White Black Spanish, Comal Red, Black Spanish and 1096 Port – each of them spectacular in their own right and meant to be drinkable now. I must admit that I am new to the Texas wines. This wines bouquet is amazing. Every note was distinct. Chocolate, blueberry, tobacco (slight), tastes that I have not found so pronounced in other USA wines jump out at you. Yet, it is more complex than a Texas Rose, but still holds its sweetness. If Austin, TX with its KEEP AUSTIN WIERD campaign were a wine, this would be it. Its not as sweet as a Texas sweet wine nor as heavy as a Cab, with the bouquet and flavors, and the cool label, this puts this wine as one of Texas hidden treasures
