Drappier Champagne Blend Champagne Millésimé Exception 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

The delicious sparkling wine possesses aromas of white peaches and cherries, providing aromatics typical of a Rose' Champagne though the appearance of a blanc.

Charles de Gaulle's favourite champagne producer, Drappier is a relatively small family-owned House. Planted in the Aube region in the south of Champagne, the Aube is in fact closer to Burgundy than Reims and produces some intensely flavoured Pinot Noirs which provides a real point of difference. The more powerful pinot noir from the Aube results in a fuller bodied and more assertive complex style with a very fresh and dry finish. Drappier also uses a low sulphur regime and extracts a remarkably low yield from its vineyards. Drappier is ranked by Champagne authority Tom Stevenson as the most dynamic independent producer of the Aube and a point of reference for the region. Champagne has been produced by the Drappier family for 8 generations and is sold across 5 continents. Read less

Pictured a 1999 Charles De Gaulle my favorite of all the Drappier range and still drinking well. But the rose is the next best thing, I found mushroom hints on the nose, good acidity and red pinot fruit in the mouth Love it.

100% Pinot Noir from a small plot called "Val des Demoiselles" made by the traditional "saignee" method. Medium salmon color. The beads are tiny, intense and persistent, just like the energizer bunny they just keep going and going. The nose is reminiscent of ripe golden delicious apple with a tiny bit of yeasty goodness. Dry, medium bodied on the palate, medium + length on the finish, and mouthwatering acidity. The palate almost taste a bit rosy with a cherry cran apple aftertaste which is a little weird. Kind of like a dry cranberry, apple, pomegranate alcoholic Martinellis if that makes any sense to you. I love rose bubbles but this was just a little to commercial, it was just missing that something special. 2.5/5

Weingut: DrappierRegion: ChampagneRebsorte: Pinot NoirInhalt: 0,375 lRestsüße: 11 g/lEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 6-8°C Champagner - Sekt - Prickelndes > Frankreich > Champagne

Aged in cellars that date back to 1152, this exceptional champagne, to Drappier, represents freshness, maturity, complexity, and richness. Pale gold in color, there is a noticeably flowery aroma surrounding this champagne. The flavor is elegantly fruity, with red raspberry and currant providing a crisp, fresh finish.
