Drappier Brut Nature Zero Dosage 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Its color is ruby gold with coppery reflections, the mousse is barely exuberant but vivacious. The nose is of freshly pressed black grapes, the aromas of citrus and red fruits. Ample in the mouth with a flavor of peach ot the vines and a bouquet of aromatic herbs. Straight, lively wine without dryness. Excellent persistence on lightly spicy notes. The original Champagne, a natural pleasure.

Charles de Gaulle's favourite champagne producer, Drappier is a relatively small family-owned House. Planted in the Aube region in the south of Champagne, the Aube is in fact closer to Burgundy than Reims and produces some intensely flavoured Pinot Noirs which provides a real point of difference. The more powerful pinot noir from the Aube results in a fuller bodied and more assertive complex style with a very fresh and dry finish. Drappier also uses a low sulphur regime and extracts a remarkably low yield from its vineyards. Drappier is ranked by Champagne authority Tom Stevenson as the most dynamic independent producer of the Aube and a point of reference for the region. Champagne has been produced by the Drappier family for 8 generations and is sold across 5 continents. Read less

Very nice test for a zero dossage champagne. I'd try only the one without sulfites and it was great. Only produce with Pinot grapes it smell and taste what you can feel when you are just behind a basket press during the grape harvest time.

Much to be liked. Very dry and straight taste. The Pinot Noir defenately leaves its marks on the tongue. At first very very dry, but after a while the palate opens to some more subtle sensations. in one word a Tight sensation. Good Price/quality value. (in Belgium)
