Vintage: 2006 10/07/2009

The Loosen 2006 urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Sptlese smells of fresh strawberry and brown spices with subtly smoky inflections. Peachy richness and a hint of white raisin on the creamy palate signal the wines advanced ripeness and an element of botrytization. The sweetness here seems as usually adeptly judged but there is a faintly prickly and drying botrytis-induced note in the finish which some might argue could have been covered over by higher residual sugar. Still this opulent ripe Sptlese is bound to impress. RP.
