Weingut Dr Loosen:
The Dr. Loosen estate has been in the same family for over 200 years. When Ernst Loosen (pronounced loh-zen) assumed ownership in 1988, he realized that with ungrafted vines averaging 60 years old in some of Germany’s best-rated vineyards, he had the raw materials to create stunningly intense, world-class wines. When Ernst Loosen (pronounced loh-zen) assumed ownership in 1988, he realized that with ungrafted vines averaging 60 years old in some of Germany’s best-rated vineyards, he had the raw materials to create stunningly intense, world-class wines. To achieve this, Ernst dramatically reduced his crop size and stopped all chemical fertilization, preferring only moderate use of organic fertilizers. And, most importantly, he turned to gentler cellar practices that allow the wine to develop its full potential with a minimum of handling and technological meddling. Read less

Delicious. Lush and velvety, fanning its apricot, mango and lime across the palate gracefully. Though soft, itandrsquo;s balanced, with enough acidity to keep the flavors pumping through the long finish. Drink now through 2025.

When you try this, it will be easy to think that it is a mis-labeled Spauml;tlese, or even Auslese. The fruit is very full, luscious, sweet and scrumptious, balanced by some nice mild acidity. This is a gorgeous wine to enjoy on its own with nothing to distract you from its beauty.

Lively, vivid wine, this sings loud and clear with gingery citrus flavors bolstered with bright, jazzy acidity. Crisp, clear minerality provides a firm and large stage for the fruit. Itandrsquo;s delicious and winning now, but give it time and there will be more delicious harmonies for it to play.

Gingery scents and licorice-like flavors place this tight, citrus-filled Riesling squarely in the Spice Garden vineyard. Give it a few months or even years to fill in with more flavor.

Tangy, with a lively structure keeping the peach, apple and citrus flavors well-defined and persistent. Balanced, with a lingering finish. Drink now through 2010.
