Dr. Konstantin Frank Rkatsiteli Finger Lakes 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

"Beautiful on the nose with sweet notes of honey tangerine and marmalade, Dr. Frank’s 2009 Rkatsiteli is leaner than in previous vintages, but bright with fresh navel orange peels and a crisp, clean acidity. Finishes quite long with a delightful orange pith astringency." WE 10/11

Dr. Frank makes the country's preeminent rkatsiteli, a dry and minerally white in '08 with scents of green herbs and scallions. Its flavors are lean and angular, with notes of crisp pear and lees. Ideal with a slightly fatty fish, like whole striped bass.

The Rkatsiteli shows its characteristic fruity complexity resulting from early bottling. Along with the intense fruit are the typical spicy notes as well as pineapple and mango notes. The wine is presented in a dry version with the crisp acidity, the residual sugar and the tremendous fruit providing a very pleasant balance. The Rkatsiteli remains one of Dr. Frank's greatest achievements in the Finger Lakes. - Winery

A full-bodied nose of melon and lemon leads on this solid white from the Finger Lakes. A combination of fresh fruit, peaches and lemon follows on the palate, with waves of spice. A good wine to enjoy solo.

Made from an old Georgian (think Caucasus, not peach trees) grape variety, the waxy paraffin-scented aromas give way to pear and quince, tinged with red apple skin and lemony acids. There's a certain crystalline quality to the fruit that's very appealing.

A soft, rich, inviting white, full of floral and peach nuances that end with a hint of earthiness. Drink now.

Similar to a Riesling, with lime and honeysuckle flavors and just a touch of sweetness. Bright and juicy.

When there's a sage-roasted chicken crisping in the oven, pull a bottle of this floral white from the fridge. It's sweet peach flavors and scents of grass and straw will meld right in with dinner.
