Dr. Konstantin Frank Rkatsiteli 2015

Editorial Review by Snooth Editorial:

Herbed lemongrass and green apple aromas with fresh cut lemon aromatics. Very citrusy on the palate with notes of fresh lemon and grapefruit, ripe pear juice and a burst of acidity on the attack that sustains throughout, this is crisp and refreshing with a warm spiced afterglow of white pepper and herbs. 89 pts

Always an interesting wine this year’s version is particularly strong with wonderful notes of tropical fruits and exotic flowers on the nose. The palate shows a hint of sweetness that is well balanced by the acidity and keeps the richness of this wine in check. Nice notes of citrus oils and herbs on the finish keep this interesting from start to finish. Worth a look! Try this with soft washed rind cow’s milk cheeses. 89pts

Drink this wine. Read your dusty history books, and then enjoy every savory sip.

Tasted at the Wine Century annual dinner: Off dry but not overpowering at all. Rather well balanced floral and surprisingly mineral wine. Nice. Serve with asian/ spicy foods

Green herbs and grass add freshness to the sweet aromas of quince and peach preserves on this interpretation of the Georgian Rkatsiteli grape. Intense fruit flavors persist on the palate, highlighted by lemon-lime acidity and lime-pith astringency.

An obscure Eastern European grape, Rkatsiteli is closest in style to a Pinot Gris. Bright and refreshing, with bold acidity and zesty lemon, green apple and lychee notes.

A full-bodied nose of melon and lemon leads on this solid white from the Finger Lakes. A combination of fresh fruit, peaches and lemon follows on the palate, with waves of spice. A good wine to enjoy solo.

When there's a sage-roasted chicken crisping in the oven, pull a bottle of this floral white from the fridge. It's sweet peach flavors and scents of grass and straw will meld right in with dinner.

The Rkatsiteli shows its characteristic fruity complexity resulting from early bottling. Along with the intense fruit are the typical spicy notes as well as pineapple and mango notes. The wine is presented in a dry version with the crisp acidity, the residual sugar and the tremendous fruit providing a very pleasant balance. The Rkatsiteli remains one of Dr. Frank's greatest achievements in the Finger Lakes. - Winery

Dr. Frank makes the country's preeminent rkatsiteli, a dry and minerally white in '08 with scents of green herbs and scallions. Its flavors are lean and angular, with notes of crisp pear and lees. Ideal with a slightly fatty fish, like whole striped bass.
