Always an interesting wine this year’s version is particularly strong with wonderful notes of tropical fruits and exotic flowers on the nose. The palate shows a hint of sweetness that is well balanced by the acidity and keeps the richness of this wine in check. Nice notes of citrus oils and herbs on the finish keep this interesting from start to finish. Worth a look! Try this with soft washed rind cow’s milk cheeses. 89pts

Wine Report 2009 2008 2007 2006 and 2005 have all named Dr. Frank the Greatest Wine Producer in the Atlantic Northeast. In addition Dr. Frank's 2006 Rkatsiteli was named #1 in the category of Most Exciting or Unusual Finds. `Dr. Frank sets the standard for this unusual variety and this vintage may be his best yet.` The Rkatsiteli shows its characteristic fruity complexity resulting from early bottling. Along with the intense fruit are the typical spicy notes as well as pineapple and mango notes. The wine is presented in a dry version with the crisp acidity the residual sugar and the tremendous fruit providing a very pleasant balance. The Rkatsiteli remains one of Dr. Franks greatest achievements in the Finger Lakes. Originally from the Caucaus Mountains in Georgia (the country not the state) on the border of Armenia and Turkey Rkatsiteli has found a home in the Finger Lakes of New York. Rkatsiteli has an ability to reach good sugar levels in cooler climates and has a natural high acidity making it perfe

Full of grassy, grapefruit-driven fruit with spicy notes, strawberries, and a bit of white pepper. Long and graceful, this finishes very well.

Winemaker's Notes:

Vinification: The grapes were picked mid-October after a long cool ripening season. The grapes were crushed, pressed and the juice was cold settled. The juice fermented in stainless steel and the fermentation was stopped after four weeks with a small amount of natural sugar remaining. The wine was racked, filtered, cold stabilized and adjusted for bottling. Description: The Rkatsiteli shows its characteristic fruity complexity resulting from early bottling.
