Dr. Konstantin Frank Riesling Semi-Dry 2012
Shows a fruitier less mineral character than the dry Riesling. The bouquet is dominated by ripe fruity aromas of honey, tropical fruits, pineapple and pear. The mouthfeel is very pleasant with a good balance between the residual sugar and the acidic backbone typical of Riesling with a long finish.
Dr. Konstantin Frank ignited the “Vinifera Revolution” a movement that forever changed the course of wine growing in the Finger Lakes and the United States. Dr. Frank’s vision, knowledge and determination are credited with elevating the New York wine industry from a state of happy mediocrity to a level that today commands world attention.
External Reviews for Dr. Konstantin Frank Riesling Semi-Dry
The historic Dr. Konstantin Frank winery has long been a source for consistent, well-priced wines in the Finger Lakes. Pretty on the nose, with delicate floral and stone-fruit aromas, it builds in intensity and power on the palate, with a crush of sweet-tart grapefruit and nectarine flavors. Hints of fresh herb, honeycomb and zippy lemon-lime acidity add nuance and balance to a long finish.
A smokiness at the outset complements bright fruit scents, like passion fruit and Parisian ham. The flavors remain smoky and focused, with a fleshy texture that suggests a pairing with smoked duck sausage.
