What to Expect

Riesling is a chameleon of a grape, able to produce world class wines that range from bone dry to unctuously sweet. Germany is most closely associated with Riesling, where all styles are made and the range of flavors runs the gamut from steely and crisp with crunchy mineral-driven flavors to fresh lime, apple and peach flavored expressions - even rich honied, candied fruit tones in the great dessert wines.

Winemakers Notes

Vinification:

The grapes were crushed, pressed and the juice was cold settled. The wines were fermented at low temperatures with fermentations lasting 4-6 weeks before being stopped to leave a small amount of residual sugar. The wine was racked, blended, filtered, cold stabilized and adjusted for bottling.

Winery Notes: This dry Riesling presenting a green gold hue displays the traditional qualities of Dr. Franks Riesling: crisp acidity a pronounced mineral character and layers of mango citrus and pear blossoms in the nose. Descriptors include apple and pear with a full-bodied taste along with minerality resulting from the slate terroir of the vineyard. The ripeness of the grapes resulted in a great texture with a lingering fruity finish. This wine has great ageing potential.

More than any other Riesling from the Finger Lakes, this one is why the region is becoming so competitive with Rieslings. It's consistently outstanding. Very crisp, very dry and clean. Their Chardonnay is unique also.

I love this Riesling and go to the Finger Lakes frequently just to get some more. It is crisp and clear with a fresh fruit forward taste but not the sour finish noted on some other dry Rieslings. Very reminiscent of some of Dr. Loosen's rieslings which I enjoy. This wine is great with oriental spicy foods.

Hand of Snooth Voice of Snooth

Pale lemon color. Very mineral aromas, grapefruit and pear. Bone dry, high acidity, med alc, light body. Earthy flavors of hay and wet stone. Drink now (after decanting) or keep for 5-8 years

Dr. Frank would be proud to know his tradition of producing German style Riesling's are still a favorite Domestic Riesling. They are crisp, lively and dry. A small burst of fruit forward is followed by the complimentary finish. A wonderful wine and one of the few from the Finger Lakes region I can buy in KY.
