Dr. Konstantin Frank Gruner Veltliner Finger Lakes 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Shows the characteristic aromas of grapefruit, lime, lychee, banana and the spiciness associated with Gewurztraminer. The slight residual sugar balances the phenolic elements, typical of this grape, with the complexity of mineral overtones that presents the wine with a long, clean fresh finish. This wine can be paired with spicy dishes with great success.

Previously not commonly seen outside Austria, Grüner Veltliner is beginning to make a new home for itself in the similarly cool climate of the Finger Lakes, and who better to pioneer such an obscure varietal than Dr. Frank, the winery that brought Riesling to New York. With razor-sharp acidity and bold citrus fruits, this vibrant white is the “something different” for which all you Sauvignon Blanc drinkers have been looking. Food pairing: poultry, seafood, Asian Flavor type: semi-dry Body type: medium Finish: crisp

A fresh white, with good grapefruit, kaffir lime and tarragon notes, showing nice zip through the finish. Not big, but fresh and pure. Drink now.
