Dr. Konstantin Frank Chardonnay Barrel Fermented 2014

External Review:

Though the wine is barrel fermented, the oak is subtle and well-integrated, while the tropical fruit (especially banana) takes center stage. Crisp on the finish and vibrant, this is one to pair with lemon chicken or grilled white fish.

The nose on the 2010 Chardonnay begins with an intense blend of pear and apple notes. Fruit and acidity are perfectly balanced with a mere hint of oak and crisp citrus finish.

Creamy vanilla oak mixes pleasantly with pineapple-fruit aromas. Pineapple and citrus flavors carry through the medium-length finish. Lots of oak, but therersquo;s enough fruit to provide balance; it just needs a year or so to knit together.

This ambitious white shows concentration, structure and plenty of oak. The toasty, smoky oak flavors obscure the pear and apple fruit now, but therersquo;s enough body and acidity to match with food. Drink now through 2007.

This winery was founded by Dr. Konstantin Frank, the ldquo;Father of Vinifera Winerdquo; in the eastern United States. The wine is an elegant, well-balanced wine displaying pears and apples in both aroma and taste, and a lingering aftertaste. It would enhance shrimp scampi or veal in cream sauce. Enjoy this wine and drink a toast to Dr. Frank!

Toast and butterscotch flavors lead the way in this relatively full-bodied wine, featuring a fine array of crisp apple, peach, pear, melon and citrus notes. Long and full on the finish.

Smooth, rounded and delicate, with tastes of pears and vanilla. A wine made in the Burgundy tradition, it has an elegant balance of fruit and acidity commingled with oak complexity. It will accompany a broad array of foods.
