Dr. Konstantin Frank Chardonnay Barrel Fermented 2007

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

This ambitious white shows concentration, structure and plenty of oak. The toasty, smoky oak flavors obscure the pear and apple fruit now, but there's enough body and acidity to match with food. Drink now through 2007.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

The floral and fruity bouquet, with mineral and toasty elements, is in harmony with this style of Chardonnay. Aromas of peach, quince and melon on the nose give way to a supple texture with great fruit concentration, vibrant acidity and a long finish. This wine will continue to develop layers of nuances for years to come. Exemplifies the food-friendly style at Dr. Frank, with good acidity, integrated and not overwhelming oak, moderate alcohol, and a malolactic character that does not dominate the wine.

Tropical fruit aromas mingle with toasted oak on the nose of this elegant wine from Finger Lakes pioneer Dr. Frank. On the palate, the wine offers appealing and balanced flavors of creamy vanilla, spice and vibrant, lively fruit, making it an excellent choice for everything from salmon to spicier Asian cuisine.

Frank rarely missees a mark and this wine is another example of the poised flavors one expects from this winery. The aromas are fresh but subtle, with a delicate spin of toasted oak. The wine offers a restrained and sophisticated profile that balances depth with a clean, measured use of oak.

This has good weight and focus, with a mix of fresh green and yellow apple notes and a bright, floral-tinged finish that hangs on nicely. Drink now.

Smooth, rounded, delicate, tastes of pears and vanilla. A wine made in the Burgundian tradition, with an elegant balance of fruit and acidity commingled with oak complexity. Chardonnay is an inordinately versatile grape, accompanying a broad array of foods.
