Doyenne Syrah 2007

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Tight smoky and very soil driven on the nose with toasty, cedary, charry oak notes. there are very fine floral and herb tones here as well as an intriguing almond extract accenting extracty black fruit with a hint of juniper. Big and matte on entry and then broad and vibrant on the palate with unintegrated acidity and fine dusty tannin supporting nicely ripe and spicy black currant and black berry fruit. The finish is very mineral driven, dusty with a sneaky return of spicy fruit on the final. Big and powerful. 89pts

Full bodied and legs like a supermodel. :-) Was 94 points in wine advocate (if you're into that sort of thing). "The 2007 Syrah contains 2% Viognier. Purple-colored, it displays an alluring bouquet of bacon, game, incense, blueberry, and plum. Rich, layered, and loaded; this lengthy effort is for hedonists only"

Really smooth drinking wine. Wanted a bit more fruit, which is why only 4 stars but great balance.
