Down Under Shiraz 2008

Member Review by kboof:

Medium bodied Shiraz with a quick taste of red liquorice and tonic with a short but pleasant finish reminiscent of mango. It is a satisfactory wine but not a gem, even for it's low price. For Shiraz in this price range, look to Black Swan or Rex Goliath which are both considerably fuller and surprisingly good for their prices.

Down Under:
"The popularity of Australian chardonnays, combined with the availability of high quality wine at a super value price, make this is a natural for consumers and the trade." explained Franzia. "Down Under by Crane Lake has a fruit forward, crisp, clean taste in the Australian style." It’s not rocket science: Just good fruit made into a clean, zippy wine with fresh-fruit tastes. This wine tasted like vinegar, but considering it was a gift from my in-laws I should have expected it to be swill!
