Winemakers Notes

This has a superb nose of rich, ripe berry fruit with the typical slightlyaustere and firm reserve of Dow. Analytically drier than usual, it is stillblessed with dense fruit on the palate, a magnificent structure, weight andimpressively long finish. On this showing, Dow is a strong candidate for wineof the vintage.

WS review: Intense aromas of blackberry, wet earth and grape follow through to a fullbody, with medium-to-light sweetness, very big tannins and a mouthfillingfinish. Round and delicious already. Has the stuffing to age. Powerful. (James Suckling - Wine Spectator - May 09)

Jancis review: Very dark and brooding to look at. Dry and complex with some notes ofvegetation on the nose. Really rather polished and superior. Masses of extract,not an awful lot of sugar, but refinement and breed. If it were a person itwould definitely be a man. In a pin striped suit (as this taster is today,funnily enough).
