Old Syrah mass selection from San Juan planted in 1998 in own roots vines in the poorest rocky clay soil in El Alto Vineyard, Ugarteche. The vine spacing is 2.2 x 1.5 m with vertical trellising and double spur pruning cordon.Natural high crop is controlled doing a green harvest during veraison, leaving in the vine 1 to 3 bunches per spur. At Doña Paula the vineyards and wines have always been managed using Sustainable Agriculture practices. Picked at the end of March, the grapes are completely destemmed and then partially crushed. Must is cooled to reduce the temperature immediately after crushing and maintain flavours and aromas, by reducing the level of SO2 . Vintage: 2009 Region: Finca El Alto, Ugarteche, Luján de Cuyo Varietals: 100% Syrah Alcohol: 13,5% by vol. Acidity: 5,17 g/l Residual Sugar: 2,25 g/l pH: 3,57 Tasting Notes: Our Paula Syrah has violet blue colour, impressive spiciness, white pepper, red fruit and plumsaromas. Sweet and pleasant mouthfeel with fresh fruit acidity.
