Intense violet color; plums, black cherries, licorice and dried herbs aromas in the nose. Sweet, round and ample in the mouth, with a lingering finish.

Intense violet color. In the nose, aromas of black fruits, violets and spices. Mineral and graphite notes. Great balance and freshness in the mouth, with good concentration and medium structure. Soft tannins and persistent finish.

The 2010 Malbec comes from Dona Paula's vineyard in Altamira and Gualtallary and is aged in first, second and third use French barriques. It has an intense bouquet with dark plum, black olive and raspberry aromas that is almost over-powering. The palate is full-bodied with fleshy, supple tannins and copious blueberry and cassis fruit that lead to a "spherical" finish. This is a decent commercial Malbec at a decent price. Drink now.

BRONZE MEDAL - Decanter World Wine Awards 2010 Finca El Alto is the largest single vineyard malbec estate in the Luján de Cuyo region in Argentina, with 197 hectares (487 acres) planted between 1969 and 1975. Most of the production comes from adult vines trellised in double spur pruned cordon at medium to high vine density (1852 to 3636 vines per hectare).
