User Reviews for Doña Paula Malbec
Add your reviewI've about decided that the best way to drink this wine is to open it day ahead of time and start drinking it on day two. Day one is always disappointing - mostly very fungal tasting. But day two, this is a totally different wine, with black and blue berry, black currant, tea, some vegetableness and a nice, aromatic finish.

Good value for the price. this is an easy drinking everyday wine. Malbecs are not usually my favorites but this actually worked well. Wine Enthusiast rated this an 85. "Wine Enthusiast Big, roasted and full, with slightly earthy, burnt aromas to go with standard berry fruit. The palate is solid in feel, with herbal berry and tea flavors along with zesty acidity. Finishes toasty and a little herbal, with any leftover fruit heading quickly to the shadows. Score: 85. —Michael Schachner, August 01, 2010. "
A dark purple wine that is ripe and warm on the nose. A great smooth wine. Very refreshing for a Malbec. Offers stunning hints of raspberry and plum. Roasted butterscotch aftertaste. Delicious.
deep purple color dark fruits, dried herbs med. body, fruity, nice tannin I enjoyed it. I prefer drier wines.

Aromas of ripe plums, blackberry, blueberry, sweet tar, licorice, black pepper, mint, truffle with a hint of mocha flavors gives this malbec an expressive Argentinean character. Nice finish!
90 Points - Wine Spectator"Ripe and flashy, but pulls it off, with gorgeous mouthfeel and loads of lush raspberry ganache, boysenberry and plum sauce notes, all kept going by a graphite streak on the lengthy finish. Drink now."
A beautiful deep red hue that seems almost opaque. The nose shows caramel and spices that mingle with red berry fruit. The palate is full and deep, with fine tannins and good length.Perrin Rserve Rouge is sourced in our own vineyards of Grand Prbois (40 hectares/99 acres) and Vinsobres (45 hectares/111 acres), as well as from vineyards that we lease under long-term contracts. All these plots are managed and supervised by the Beaucastel team.
Not to be confused with their introductory level Los Cardos line, the grapes for this Dona Paula Estate Malbec were sourced from two of their best vineyards. Finca El Alto in the Lujan de Cuyo provides grapes with supple texture and deep red fruit flavors. The Finca Alluvia at over 4,400 feet of altitude provides grapes with firm structure, acidity and minerality. A two week cold soak extracts color and aromas and forward flavors. 8 months in French oak barrels adds complexity. This wine was recently scored 91 points on Robert Parker's website where they said "This has a pinched bouquet that takes some coaxing, but there are some lithe cassis and black plum fruits with a touch of garrigues developing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple, fleshy entry, good acidity, lush raspberry, wild strawberry and a touch of vanilla, very well defined on the finish with good length. Drink now-2014."
This wine presents an intense purplish red color. The nose is sweet, spicy and intense with aromas of red fruits and herbs. In the mouth, this wine is soft, velvety, fresh, and well balanced. Fruity, fun and ready to enjoy tonight!
Winemaker's Notes:
At Doña Paula, they believe that wine should be a tru expression of the land. The conditions in Argentina’s Mendoza region are ideal, with unique terroir which allow winemakers to fulfil their dreams of creating sophisticated and immaculately structured wines. The Doña Paula Estate wines are wines of tremendous concentration and varietal character that result from the work, dedication and skill of the winegrowers and the passion, creativity and innovation of the wine makers. The wines are big-bodied and bold, yet lively, complex and elegant. This Malbec is an intense violet colour, with plum, black cherry, licorice and dried herb basket aromas on the nose. It is sweet, round and ample in the mouth with a beautiful lingering finish.
